  1. Aloha, my name is Rayna Fujii and I work for the University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa College of Education Institute for Teacher Education Elementary Department. I frequently work with online and distance learners in our program and I hope to learn more about how to better serve our statewide population using the most current pedagogical tools, skills and knowledge that currently exists for online learning.

I hope to learn new instructional tools and strategies that will strengthen my practice and broaden the reach of our program.

    • Aloha, TCC colleagues. I am Willi Savenye in Phoenix Arizona. I am retired as an educational technology professor. Now I am working part time as a senior education advisor for our engineering research center, for which I used to be education director. I am also an associate graduate faculty advising several PhD students online at the University of North Texas. So happy to meet you all!

    I am currently at Kauai Community College and teaching Psychology to a gregarious group of 25 students. I love face-to-face class time but also value the opportunities for (myself included) to learn online and am hoping to teach more via an internet platform.   17. Hello everyone! My name is Rebekah and I have the privilege of learning and teaching at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. I study VR use in education and the use of cognitive apprenticeship for improving teacher technology use. I and my co-presenter are looking forward to sharing what we’ve learned about getting started with virtual reality. The tools available now for both consumption and creation of VR don’t cost a fortune and are easy to use. Thanks for welcoming us to your virtual conference.

  18. Aloha! I am Zhongrui (Ray) Yao, a doctoral candidate in the program of Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies at FSU in Tallahassee, Florida. I am looking forward to attending TCC! This is the first time I have attended the conference.

    On April 16, Thursday (4/16) at 16:30 HAST (Track B), I hope to share my findings related to faculty’s adoptions of open educational resources (OERs). I look forward to presenting at the conference then as well as learning from other presenters.

    I am a gamified Language Learning eXperience (LLX) designer, a lecturer of the Department of Child English at the Cyber University of Korea, and an Ed. D. candidate specialized in reading and literacy leadership at Walden University in the USA. I am an instructor and founder of Choi’s English Literacy School and Library as well as a director at Neuronetism, AI language R & D Center in S. Korea. Also, I am a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) instructor regarding gamification in teaching and learning at Udemy in the USA and professional development trainer for EFL teachers in S. Korea. Also, I am a chairperson of serious games and gamification division and a seminar organizer for serious games, gamification, AR/VR/MR and game AI domains at Korea Game Society in S. Korea. I am interested in the research related to gamification in English language education, literacy for K-12 EFL students, professional development, literacy program development, digital game-based learning, game literacy, MOOC, and neurolinguistics (ERP study). Howdy, Alan Levine here (my calling card is http://cog.dog), I’ve been around TCC since maybe 2003 when I was with the Maricopa Community Colleges, so of course, I am always catching up with Lucy (hi Lucy!). I’ve been lucky to do a few presentations and keynote, and this is by far, my favorite online conference. I have been living in Central Canada since 2018, enjoying the open space, and doing media/web work and faculty development projects many in open education. Mahalo to the whole team that has done 24 TCCs so far.

    I have been the recipient of online education but have no practice at planning and giving nursing education online. The program is largely based on hands on learning and clinical hours. This is tough times to get our students through to graduation

    Iʻm Trish Brubaker and I work at Windward Community College as the Media Design and Production manager (an APT position.) Iʻve been participating in TCC for about 3-4 years now and have found it chock full of useful information not only for education, but also for keeping up with whatʻs happening tech-wise in the world at large. It tends to be a fun experience, especially if you have the time (which we may all have now) to go full bore by connecting outside the conference with twitter and other social media, etc.

Otherwise, I am involved in ministry to 31 people on death row in this state and volunteer at the Montford prison med/psych unit. Of course, since coronavirus, only the mail ministry continues. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this stressful time.

    • Very cool! This is close to my heart, as is prison reform and truly helping recently released folks have a real chance to have their “second” chance!

    My research blends game and simulation design with machine learning and artificial intelligence set in virtual worlds, Unity using VR/AR technologies, thanks to my fantastic team members, Dr. Andrew Stricker and Dr. Barbara Truman. I first learned of TCC in 2002.
